YOU Today is a program under the direction and guidance of the Metropolitan Honolulu Rotary Foundation and other corporate community leaders. Our 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation fills the gaps in community services that seem to be widening each year. YOU Today -Youth Opportunities & Understanding continues to find ways to develop programs that truly make a difference for today and more important for many todays to come! Current Programs that YOU brings to Hawaii’s youth.
Diamonds in the Rough®
A scholarship program created in 2000 for students whose academic records are not strong enough to qualify for most programs, but have demonstrated that they would be motivated to continue their education if they were able to find the financial resources to do so. Most have been the first in their family to go beyond High School.
Keiki Back-Pack Project ®
A program in conjunction with the Hawaii Food Bank to provide weekend nourishment for young students at Princess Ka`iulani Elementary School in Kalihi. Each week 250 students receives a backpack with juice, soup and appropriate snacks, providing food items when there may be very little or no food at home. YOU will continue to ensure these students have this opportunity!
YOU Changing Lives
Changing Lives is the international arm of our foundation providing assistance to youth in the Philippines.
Friends of St. Mary’s – St. Mary Euphrasia Training Center in Cebu City, Philippines, cares for young girls in need of special protection and care. They range in age from 5-20 years old and are from the poorest areas of Cebu. At St. Mary’s they are provided schooling, healthy food, a safe environment and nurturing love from The Good Shepard Sisters. YOU Today has sponsored St. Mary’s Makeover … hands on renovations to the facility in Cebu and the Foster Friends Program where caring adults are paired with the girls of SM to offer encouragement, guidance and tutoring through email correspondence.
You Changing Lives has also provided university, college and vocational scholarships for the graduates of St. Mary’s so they can continue their education after graduating from high school.
